Track Plan
The track plan consists of 3 separate levels of double-tracked mainline loops.
Each loop on the picture represents double-track. This allows for operating 6 trains, all at the same time.
Sidings are either labeled or track drawn in (or both). In some cases the yard or siding has more tracks than indicated. This is for simplifying the view.
The theme is western railroads. Santa Fe dominates. I also like to run the Denver & Rio Grande Western, Burlington Northern, Union Pacific, Montana Rail Link, Southern Pacific, and I may even sneak in some Western Pacific. Did I leave any out?
No particular time frame is modeled, although for the most part equipment and structures are "pre-merger." There are paint schemes from the early 50's on, and you may see me pull out the steam engines. If I do I'll add some pictures.
I like to run mainline trains in continuous action, which is why I've modeled loops. There are enough sidings and industry that if I ever decide to add operations, I can.
